Summary: Adelaide's outer southern region has experienced growth in population in recent times and will continue to expand into the future. In May 2009, the Australian Government announced $291.2 million funding for the construction of 5.5 kilometres of dual rail track and associated infrastructure from Noarlunga to Seaford. The extension of the rail line to the Seaford District Centre will provide greater transport flexibility for the community well into the future by significantly improving public transport services. The project will be undertaken at the same time as the upgrade and electrification of the Noarlunga line - a component of the South Australian Government's $2.6 billion public transport investment. |
