BHP Billiton selected Bechtel to be the contractor for its Brisbane Hub, an integrated office for planning, executing and optimising multiple projects over an extended period.  Managed by BHP Billiton Metallurgical Coal, a range of projects are studied and executed centrally from the Hub.

 Projects currently managed by The Hub include:

• Broadmeadow Sustaining Operations,
• Crinum North,
• Caval Ridge,
• Daunia,
• South Walker Creek CHPP upgrade,
• Hay Point Coal,
• IndoMet Coal project in Indonesia.

The Hub is also working on the expansion of an existing manganese mine on Groote Eylandt in Australia’s Northern Territory.

Hub projects share common purchases that are listed below. It is the intent of the Hub to put long term agreements in place for these items that would apply to multiple projects.

In addition to the common purchases, each project will have procurement requirements that are specific to that project. Links to specific projects are located above.  Follow these links for a brief description of each project and lists of the purchases that are unique to that project.

Interested Suppliers need to submit the Hub Pre-qualification Supplier Questionnaire (together with related documentation) to Bechtel, as pre-requisite to being considered for bidding on any of the HUB projects.  Note that the pre-qualification process applies to all of the HUB projects, and only needs to be completed once per supplier, for consideration of relevant scope on any of the HUB projects.  Also note that the HUB Pre-qualification Supplier Questionnaire is not to be confused with the standard Bechtel Supplier Questionnaire used on other Bechtel projects.
